Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Series

Affordable multifunctional tablets that let you play poker, read e-books, and watch films

Last July 7, the South Korean electronics magnate Samsung, proudly released its newest line of tablets called the “Galaxy Tab 3 Series.” Many have awaited the release of the newest trio composed of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0., Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. What makes these appear sleeker and leaner than other mobile tablets in the market is that the exterior frame of the Galaxy Tab 3 Series is reminiscent of the physical features of the critically-acclaimed Galaxy S4 mobile phone.

First Impressions on the Series

If you look at the exterior of the three variants, all have a plastic shell that surprisingly is very smooth and doesn’t have any pointed edges that can be seen on previous tablets that Samsung has released. The Galaxy Tab 3 series units stand out with its uniform appearance, rounder corners, and the minimalist position of its keys. The physical Home button is nestled in between the Menu and Back keys, making it easier to navigate while at the same time appear very classy among other competing tablets in the market. Also, you can choose from two distinct colors: white, which makes your tablet appear very immaculate, and in gold-brown hue that is fit for those who live in drama and glamour.

Why Release Three Sizes?

Samsung has a simple answer for this question that has been boggling many tablet fans who visit tech review sites like CNET and Android Central. The Galaxy Tab 3 Series comes in three different sizes to cater to the various needs and preferences in the market. The smallest, which only measures seven inches in length, is meant for people who would like to tote their tablets even in coat pockets and handbags. The middle-sized Tab 3 8.0 caters to e-book or electronic book lovers who prefer carrying a portable reading device that although is small, has a larger and more reader-friendly screen. Lastly, the huge 10.1 unit is intended for gamers and movie fans who love to play and watch their favorite films on-the-go.

General Specifications of the Series

The LCD capacitive touchscreens of the three tablets are: 1024 x 600, 1280 x 800, and 1280 x 800 ppi (pixels per inch), respectively. Although it’s not what many have expected after the previous release of the Galaxy S4, these screen resolution specs are up-to-par. When we tried using the Tab 3 8.0 while playing the PartyPoker mobile app, we didn’t have any problems in terms of pressing the wrong game buttons or while we were watching the application’s tutorial. Since the Tab 3 8.0 and 10.1 are both running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and the Tab 3 7.0 runs on Android 4.1; it appears that there won’t be any problems running this online poker app as it only requires a steady WiFi signal and a device that runs on Android 2.1 platform or higher. Another standout feature of the Tab 3 series is any of these variants can be used as a universal remote control for your Samsung television set due to the line’s powerful IR or Infrared blaster.

If you are looking for a classy and multi-functional gadget that’s easy on the pocket, any of the units in Samsung’s newest Galaxy Tab 3 series is the way to go.
